FAQs
Everything You Need to Know
1. What is Teaching Your Baby in Braille?
Teaching Your Baby in Braille is a movement and book series created by Janie Desir — a blind mother, educator, and advocate — dedicated to helping families teach Braille from infancy. We provide fun, high-quality, accessible books and resources that make early Braille learning joyful and inclusive.
2. Who are your books for?
Our books are designed for blind and visually impaired children ages 0–5, as well as bilingual children with special needs. They’re also perfect for parents, teachers, and caregivers who want to introduce Braille and tactile learning early on.
3. What inspired Teaching Your Baby in Braille?
This initiative was inspired by Janie’s journey teaching her son Braille to prepare him for possible vision loss caused by Keratoconus — and by her struggle to find accessible materials that made learning meaningful and fun. What began as a bonding experience turned into a mission to empower families everywhere.
4. How can I order your books?
You can order directly through our website. Simply visit our Shop page, select your book or bundle, and proceed to checkout. We ship across the U.S. and internationally.

8. How does Teaching Your Baby in Braille support the community?
Our work fills a critical gap in early literacy resources for visually impaired children. By providing inclusive, engaging materials, we help families, educators, and organizations prepare children for academic success and lifelong learning.

Absolutely! Our goal is to expand the Teaching Your Baby in Braille collection with more tactile stories, bilingual editions, and educational tools that support early literacy and sensory development.
